Q: What is Wings?
A: Wings brings the fun, excitement and relaxation of flying to everyone, not just pilots. Wings’ flight simulator and virtual worlds have the most beautiful terrains and environments available on the iPhone. Tailor your flying to have fun or just relax and enjoy the scenery. Play your own music from your iPhone or choose one of the built-in tracks. Go searching for distant valleys or the hidden endless river. Make Wings your own personal flying escape. Download it now and you’ll be amazed.
Q: What is the difference between Floating and Flying?
A: Floating is the beginner mode. The Wings Auto Pilot will keep you out of trouble. Try this mode first. Move to Flying when you have a feel for Wings. But look out, other than Auto-Throttle, you’re on your own. Go back and read “How do I control my plane” for more.
Q: How do I control my plane?
A: It depends if you’re Flying or Floating.
If you are Floating, which is the beginner mode, just hold your iPhone on its side at a 45-degree angle. Lean it forward away from you to pitch down (lose altitude and go down). Lean it back towards you to pitch up (gain altitude and go up). Tilt it to the right to turn right. Tilt it to the left to turn left. Wings has a built-in Auto Pilot when Floating which will correct your piloting errors. Wings Auto Pilot won’t let you turn too far to the right or left, which would have put you into a spiral or dive. Wings Auto Pilot also won’t let you pitch too far forward or back. And, when you bank, it completes your turns for you. What could be easier than that?
If you are Flying, then you’re in for a wild ride if you don’t keep a watchful eye on your movements. Hold your iPhone on its side at a 45-degree angle. Lean it forward away from you to pitch down (lose altitude and go down). Lean it back towards you to pitch up (gain altitude and go up). Tilt it to the right to bank to the right. Tilt it to the left to bank to the left. But you’re in charge of everything else, including backpressure to “pull your way” through a turn, handling spins, flips, spirals and more. Don’t worry, Wings does have an Auto-Throttle so you’ll always have lift. Remember, Wings is supposed to be fun, not a flight trainer.
Q: Where are the airports and landing strips?
A: You got Wings to fly, not to sit on the ground. There are no places to land, just places to explore.
Q: Where is the hidden river?
A: It wouldn’t be hidden if we told you… Keep looking. It’s on only one of the seasons. It’s not that hard to find.
Q: Where is the hidden “imprint”?
A: It wouldn’t be hidden if we told you. Keep looking, you’ll find it.
Q: How do I change the seasons?
A: On the main screen you will find four icons at the bottom of the screen. Tap the leaf for fall. Tap the snowflake for winter. Tap the flower for Spring. Tap the sun for Summer. Use the seasons to fly over different terrains and in different times of day and skies.
Q: What are some fun things to try?
A: Well, one of the seasons has a really cool river in it. Can you find it? It’s a blast to fly just a few feet above the water as you scream through the river bed. And, there is even a hidden “imprint” filled with water. Can you find it? If you can, contact our support group and tell them what it is and you may win a prize.
Q: How do I return to the main screen when flying?
A: Just tap the screen.
Q: How do I play music from my iPod as background music when flying?
A: Go to your iPhone settings screen. Scroll down to the very end and select Wings. Turn “Sound & Music” to OFF. The built-in music tracks in Wings will no longer operate, but any music played from your iPod will continue to play through when you start Wings. Just go to iPod, pick your music, then launch Wings and start flying.
Q: How can I mute the sound?
A: On the main screen, you will find a speaker/mute button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Tap multiple times to rotate through the build in songs or mute all sounds. This means you can play Wings whenever you want.
Q: What happens if I crash?
A: Because we are the creators of the virtual world in Wings, we decided that in our world, planes don’t crash when they hit stuff. But they do shake you up. How close can you get to hugging the ground and cresting mountain peaks without getting buzzed?
Q: What happens if Wings won’t launch and is acting really weird?
A: This will probably never happen to you. But, just in case, try this: Reset your phone by holding down the on/off and Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. Your iPhone will reboot and all should be good. If not, then try this: Go to your iPhone settings screen. Scroll down to the very end and select Wings. Turn “Reset ALL data” to ON. Than launch Wings. This resets Wings back to the factory defaults without changing your other iPhone data.
